Fairfield Glade Police Department Citizens Academy

Our Fairfield Glade Police Chief, Mike Williams is looking for a few Fairfield Glade residents that are interested in becoming more familiar with the Law Enforcement environment in Tennessee. If you are a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, the Citizens Academy experience will give you a greater understanding of the relationship between Fairfield Glade and Cumberland County. If you are a Citizens Academy Alumni please consider recommending the Citizens Academy experience to your friends or neighbors.

The next session of the Fairfield Glade Police Department Citizens Academy is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 27. Classes are held on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Library. The Academy runs for 8 weeks. Of the 52 Citizens Academy Alumni, 12 are Neighborhood Watch Coordinators. Sessions include presentations from the Cumberland County Sheriff, our District Attorney General, Criminal Court Judges, and field trips that include a tour of the Cumberland County Jail, the Cumberland County Emergency 911 Center, plus a K-9 unit demonstration. Our Alumni reviews have all been very positive and have found the Academy experience to be very informative and interesting. Applications are being accepted at the Fairfield Glade Police Department or by calling 931-484-3785.

Medicare Card Scams

1. Someone calls about the new Medicare Card and asks for $50 before it can be sent out. DON’T DO IT!  Medicare sends you the card free of charge. Don’t fall for this.

2. The second scam is someone posing to be from Medicare and wanting to “verify” your information before sending out the new card.
Medicare will NOT call you to verify your information.  They already have it. Safeguard your information especially on the phone.

NOTE:  Medicare cards are starting to go out in Tennessee in June. Medicare is being especially vague about mailings in order to keep thieves who follow the mail carriers to steal mailings after the post office delivers them.  Also, members of the same household may not receive new cards at the same time.
